Astrid is a powerful witch. She and her friend, the fire demon Ashlynn, are moving to the town of Shadow Heights to relocate her shop. For the past year she has been missing her lover Fallon, but soon the wait will be over.

Fallon, a teleport demon, and his friend Feyd, along with the unpleasant George, steal and murder for Fallwell. They spend their free time with any female who will have them. Fallon must be losing his touch because he keeps thinking about Astrid, who he will finally see after he finishes this next job.

Shadow Heights is getting exciting. Fallon and Feyd are sent to retrieve a spell stolen by Ashlynn’s late boyfriend, not knowing who she is or who she is staying with. Astrid is to become a demon prince’s sorceress to get Fallon’s soul. Amidst all this, Feyd falls for the demon he is supposed to kill and demon politics interfere with everyone.

There is an awful lot going on in this book and it took me a little while to sort it all out. I really began to enjoy the story after that. Astrid is a great character, but a little too tolerant of Fallon’s extracurricular activities for my taste. Ashlynn is likable, if a little simple. Watching Feyd fall for her was fun. The other demons and supernatural creatures, like Morrison and Alcyone, were also well developed. The story does not end here and I will definitely be reading the next one.
