Dr. Abby Byford is skeptical of the television reality show that Dr. Calder hosts. She believes that he is exploiting the patients’ situations to make good television. She is skeptical of ambitious men in general, with good reason.

Dr. Matt Calder is the host of a television reality show about emergency medicine. A Dr. Byford is quite scathing in her comments on his website. He is considering using her A & E department for a series of shows and meeting the doctor in person only peaks his interest.

A reality show host and an emergency room doctor clash both in person and on the web at first, but as they get to know each other they find they have more in common than they thought. A family crisis brings them closer together.

I really enjoyed this one. Abby and Matt are both very attractive and intelligent characters, dedicated to their careers and their patients. Abby has had a bit of tragedy in her past and Matt is facing one of his own during the course of the story. I liked the development of their relationship amidst the drama of the emergency room and the confusion of the filming of the series and Matt’s niece and nephew added a lot to the story. Abby’s lack of trust and Matt’s lack of explanations cause a few ups and downs and one near disaster, but the author pulls off a really nice ending.
