Cecily Hale is still bothered how Luke left four years ago to join his regiment and never once contacted her. Now that he has returned, he has spent the past week ignoring her.

Luke Trenton had his reasons for joining his regiment four years ago and not writing to her. After all these years, the memory of their one kiss is still fresh.

Cecily has been invited to her good friend, Denny’s, at the Swinford Manor, not expecting Luke to be there. Just one look into those dark, cold eyes and her burning feelings for him grow stronger. With the other adjoining friends, she tries to push those warm sensations of Luke aside as talk of the man-beast fill the manor. Cecily believes they should go in the woods and search for the rumored Werestag. When she manages to separate herself from the others, she finds danger. After being saved by a man appearing out of nowhere, then a stag arriving seconds later, they believe she imagined it. As she fights to prove what she saw, Luke intends on forming a new memory with her, but will it be enough for the two to discover bliss once again?

I thought The Legend of the Werestag was a fascinating read. I liked all the characters, and found the secondary players well-rounded, and motivating, keeping the story flowing at a good pace. The on-going romance with Cecily and Luke kept me turning the pages with interest. I was caught up in their moments from the beginning until the end. The bringing in with the Werestag was a nice implement to the storyline. Tessa Dare creates an energizing read that allows this reader to experience the love story of Cecily and Luke, as well as a delightful story of a legend.
