Sunny O’Connell enjoys working in her furniture store and taking trips to buy certain designs. When Roger, a complete stranger, comes to do some handy work, around the house, she is more than intrigued.

Roger Macleod, carpenter and fixer-upper has been hired by Sunny’s ex-husband do some repairs around the house after a fallen branch creates damage in the front yard.

Sunny is trying to clean up a mess from a nasty storm, a mess that has caused part of the historical tree, the one they call, ‘The Hanging Tree,’ to end up losing a branch. When Sunny’s ex brings someone to help with the clean up, he sets off a fire in her practically out of control. Roger is a carpenter and does not mind lending a helping hand. He finds Sunny sweet, kind and spunky and informs if at any time he does anything out of the ordinary to please let him know. He has a mystery surrounding him and Sunny hopes to find answers, especially when she gets the strangest feeling that someone has been inside her home when she is not there.

The Other Side of Silence is a wonderful tale that kept this reader spellbound. Sunny is indeed spunky and she and Roger have a sizzling chemistry just with simple contact. When Roger spoke, this reader could almost feel the vibration in his voice, just as Sunny felt. He is an enigmatic person that really oozes charisma in the pages. Celia Ashley fashions an intriguing tale that keeps the reader curious to the developments of Roger. She blends a story of one woman trying to leave a past and get on with a future without any ties to her ex. The incorporating of the historical tree gave a spin on the storyline while keeping this readers attention.
