Joel Howard is an independently wealthy young man who feels something is missing in his life, though he does not know what.

Patrice Dumont is essentially a dead man walking, cursed to become a vampire by his jealous wife because he loved another, a man no less.

The first time Joel sees a photograph of Dalton Manor he is mesmerized by it. Something inside him says he must go there. So he and his best friend Shelley decide to take a long vacation in England, their first stop being Dalton Manor which is now open to guests. But Dalton Manor is not all that it seems, and it is not long before Joel is hearing someone say the name Andre as though they are speaking to him, and seeing visions of a tortured man dressed as if he were from the late 1600’s. At first he thinks it just has to do with the rumors that the manor is haunted, but it is not long before he discovers there is a spiritual battle going on between a former lady of the manor who should be long dead and the man she cursed, a man that is somehow familiar to Joel, a man he wants to help.

I enjoyed reading Andre, the spooky suspense is everything a good ghost/vampire story should be. The elements of reincarnation, curses, and a witch bent on revenge kept me glued to the pages so I could find out what would happen. I loved the happy ending, but I felt the reincarnation aspect of this story could have been explored a bit better than it was. I don’t want to give away the ending, but let us just say that the author kept the two personalities of Andre and Joel a little more separate than I liked, and I felt it muddled the waters a bit and made this aspect of the story a tad confusing. All in all this is a very enjoyable read, and perfect for the upcoming Halloween holiday season. I can easily recommend it to those who love a spooky romance.
