The wife is generally unaware of her husband’s betrayals, and if she is brave enough to retaliate with an affair of her own, it goes wrong.

The husband is usually overconfident and unapologetic about his lapses until he gets caught.

A Paris Affair is a collection of short stories of ten pages or less. Each story is a tale of unfaithfulness, and worse, in a relationship. The setting is the city of Paris.

Each one of these short stories is well crafted, but the subject matter is very depressing. Each is a tale of the destruction of a marriage through unfaithfulness. The characters are realistic but for the most part unappealing. The idea that Paris is the city of lights and romance is completely dispelled here. The author is very talented, but I would much rather read about a more cheerful topic than the demise of a marriage.
