Professional wrestling is not for the faint of heart, nor is it very open-minded when it comes to homosexuality. Everett Kinkade loves his sport, even if it means living a lie. His boyfriend is not quite as accepting.

Even knowing the situation, Josh cannot help getting frustrated that he must keep his relationship with his boyfriend hidden. No one can know Ev’s real name or what he does for a living, which makes Josh feel more and more like a dirty little secret.

Blowing up in Ev’s face is probably not the best way to deal with his anger, but Josh is sick of never feeling like he is in a real relationship. Fighting with Josh is awful, but with another match coming up Everett must once again bury his feelings beneath his bravado. His heart is crushed though, and each day he is away from Josh only makes it worse. He loves Josh and he loves wrestling, but something has to give because he cannot keep living like this.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place Everett chooses to do nothing until it is forced upon him. This is often the way men deal with things they do not want to do. Josh makes a stand, which means Ev has to man up or tap out. I really like that the author puts Everett through this, as it makes his character feel so much more real and honest.
