Lady Samantha Grayson is older than most of the debutantes of the season. The intelligent beauty finds the social round less than scintillating and longs for a quiet cottage, preferably in Cornwall.

Lord Paul Russell is handsome, intelligent, and bored by the vapid Misses found in the ballrooms of the Ton.

He sees a beautiful woman across a crowded ballroom and is immediately smitten. Before he can make her acquaintance, Lord Russell is called away to his estate on urgent business. He despairs of ever meeting her again, until fate brings them together.

This is a nice, if a bit bland little romance. Their love story lacks excitement and would really improve with a bit more conflict, passion, or some sort of difficulty to overcome. Their romance is a bit too easy and smooth. The characters are pleasant and the story is well written. The author has a good feel for the time period and its customs.
