Emily Harding finds herself in a difficult situation; she feels she is out of her league trying to seduce her millionaire boss. However, for Emily, there is no way out; succeeding will see her brother protected. With their parents gone, Emily feels the need to see that he does not fall into the hands of trouble.

Running the family company had always brought Jake Penvenham his share of rivals who want to cut him down. He is quite accustomed to trusting no one and love is not an option. He knows Emily wants something from him. He must find out what.

Together they play a game of cat and mouse, each testing their desires to the limit. Emily cannot let herself fall in love. Jake refuses to admit he could feel anything at all for her; he just wants to know what secret she is hiding. As the story evolves, we see each character's motivation for deceit is quite different from their assumptions. With the growing attraction, they walk a very thin line between business and pleasure.

The writing style is excellent and Kim Rees certainly knows how to set up anticipation. The sex scenes are well written and the character reactions are real. This book is a good read and I hope to see Ms Rees's writing continue to develop as she has the skills to write very emotionally layered characters.
