Emma Davenport is the daughter of a U.S. Senator. She is wealthy, beautiful, intelligent and headstrong. She wants to live her own life far from the restrictions placed on it now. A Senator’s daughter must be a proper lady at all times.

Jack Travis is a Major in the army. He is handsome, brave and honorable. He is devoted to his duty no matter how difficult and things are about to get more and more difficult.

Emma is running away to get married when she is kidnapped off of the train of her escape. Her captors are anything but what they seem; they have been assigned to save her from marrying a scoundrel though she does not see it that way. The headstrong beauty and the honorable soldier clash again and again and love blooms, but Jack is duty bound to follow orders.

I really enjoyed this exciting romance. The plot is suspenseful and the characters colorfully vivid. The setting is interesting and appropriate and the use of a train robbery very apt for the time period. Emma and Jack are very attractive characters with a lot of issues and chemistry making for an exciting courtship that the reader will not be able to stop reading until the very last word. A spoiled heiress and dutiful soldier determined to fight their attraction make for a very enjoyable tale.
