Valeria Dunn is a researcher working at a wolf sanctuary in North Carolina. Recently, strange voices have been talking to her and she has been noticing odd changes in her body, particularly her eyes. A newcomer to the area is affecting her very strongly and she is unable to control her feelings.

Gabriel Holt is an Alpha werewolf. He has left his pack in Colorado due to his unrequited feelings for the pack leader’s mate. He hopes to make a new start in North Carolina, but someone threatens the safety of his new pack and of the woman he quickly realizes is his destined mate.

An evil outcast werewolf threatens the livelihood and safety of the North Carolina werewolf pack. A legendary red wolf is about to go through her first change. She will reputedly be a Queen who, with her destined mate, the Savior, leads her pack successfully through the coming discord.

I was immediately engrossed in this story. The author combines vivid story telling skills with very well written love scenes. The characters of Gabriel and Valeria are very realistic, so much so that I found myself getting angry with them for some of their less than stellar decisions. The supporting characters, some apparently from previous stories, are as well drawn as the two main ones. The author provides quite a few plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
