Dr. Katherine Burns has come to Greece to get in touch with her roots, and to finish her thesis. As far as she is concerned, there is nothing wrong with being married to her work. Until her interactions with the local doctor make Katherine think twice about her self-imposed loneliness.

Dr. Alexander Dimitriou never thought he would look twice at a woman after his wife’s death. Then the uptight English doctor appears in their village and forces Alexander to think again. Something about the pain he suspects Katherine is hiding strikes a chord he cannot ignore.

When a local outbreak of meningitis flings Alexander and Katherine together, they establish the bonds of friendship. As their relationship grows, Katherine knows she must either cut ties with Alexander or confide in him about her past. When the skeletons come bursting out of the closet it will take more than a run of the mill apology to make things right again.

Although the story portrays a wonderful relationship, there is a decided lack of the chemistry readers typically look for in a romance novel. Instead, the scenery in this book is really what sets it apart from other stories of the same kind. Ms. Fraser paints Greece so vividly, from the people to the tourist attractions and food, that the reader is instantly transported to the island.
