Twyla is a woman who considers herself a realist when it comes to love. Her past experience with the men in her life has taught her to never trust a man with her heart again. Yet she will find herself going through one interesting journey that will change her whole perception of love.

Anna is Twyla’s best friend, roommate and everything that Twyla is not. She is perky, dreamy, and believes that happily ever after exists.

It is Valentine’s Day, and Twyla is home alone after Anna leaves for a date with her boyfriend. Having no plans whatsoever, Twyla decides to go to bed early, not realizing that tonight will be the longest night of her life.

Ghosts of Valentine’s Past is a heart-warming holiday story; a celebration of love, second chances and Valentine’s Day with all its cute romantic symbols. It is based on the classic story of A Christmas Carol, yet it has its own original and interesting take which prevents the story from being predictable. I particularly like the dialogue. I find it funny, refreshing and I can easily imagine a conversation just like that happening between two best friends. However, some parts of the story line did not seem believable. For instance, Twyla’s ignorance of the real reason behind her parents’ divorce for all those years; yet somehow her mother gave away this long-guarded secret over a phone call. Also, the reason behind her separation from Shane seems exaggerated. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading this sweet story, and I think the readers will too.
