Counseling is what she went to school for, yet Patience Price never thought she would be doing it on the fly in her own hometown. Her Human Resources job with the FBI was over so quickly, she does not have much choice but to come back to Chincoteague Island and open her own practice.

It amazes Agent Sebastian Clark how one woman can get herself into so much trouble so quickly, but apparently Patience has a real knack. Every time he turns his head she sticks her foot into a mess, which makes him worry he will not be there if her luck runs out.

Adrian Davis was Patience’s entire world growing up until he left and broke her heart, but there is no way he is a murderer. With his mother now brow-beating her into clearing his name, Patience goes on the hunt for a killer. By her own admission, she is no sleuth, but with Sebastian’s help and knowing everyone on the island, how hard can this be? She could not be more incredibly wrong, or so dangerously out of her element.

With the threat of a storm on the horizon, and the heat building minute by minute, it is easy to get caught up in Patience’s crazy world. In my opinion, this girl is a total mess, with no business counseling others, let alone hunting down murderers. Yet her heart is in the right place. She is a total sweetie, maybe to a fault, but giving up when a friend is in trouble is not in her repertoire. I do hope she picks a guy and sticks to him, because the good-guy boyfriend and the gun-toting boyfriend are pretty reminiscent of another humorous female sleuth series.
