Modern Jane Austen fan Elizabeth Parker is thrilled to be attending the annual Jane Austen Festival in Bath. It is the perfect time for a little getaway after quitting her job and turning down her boyfriend’s offer to live together. Still, Elizabeth cannot seem to leave intrigue behind.

As Elizabeth and her aunt meet a colorful cast of Austen fans, they find themselves swept into the drama of a modern villain. Professor Richard Baines considers himself an expert on all things Austen. Too bad his theories are scandalously insulting to everyone’s favorite authoress.

When Professor Baines is found murdered at the masquerade ball, accusations fly. There is no shortage of suspects, but Elizabeth’s friend Cora is at the top of the list. Elizabeth must peel back the layers of motive and deception to find the real killer before it is too late.

With all of the drama and intrigue of an old fashioned mystery, readers will enjoy this witty story. Those who enjoy the novels of Jane Austen will recognize a similar flavor in the dialogue and characters. Though it would be helpful to pick up the previous books in this series, it is possible to enjoy this book as a stand alone.
