China Bohannon has decided that trying to forge a link with her uncle in Spokane is better than staying at home with a step-mother that she does not get along with. Her plan is to convince her uncle that he needs help with his detective agency business.

Monk is China’s uncle and feels he has no use for a bookkeeper. Although he enjoys her visit, he still prefers to be on his own. Gratton Doyle is Monk’s partner, and he too believes they have no use for China’s help. Yet no matter how many scuffles she manages to get into, she seems to be growing on the two men.

China believes that if she can just solve a murder case her uncle and Gratton will have to take her on in the business. But as she digs deeper, her life becomes in danger. Can she catch the killer or will the killer catch her and silence her for what she knows?

One Foot on The Edge is an entertaining read with colorful characters and a prime mystery to solve. Yet as entertaining as it is, I found the story dragged a bit in places, and I seemed a bit lost on certain character's backgrounds. But overall, if you are looking for a mystery to solve then this would make a good choice to try.
