Viewing the world from the back of a police cruiser tops off a perfectly crappy day for James O’Brien. Car trouble and a bar fight he did not start puts him in no mood for a sexy cop with a hero complex.

Even seeing the worst of humanity on a regular basis, Officer Scott Brown still believes there is goodness in almost everyone.

James cannot wrap his head around why Scott is going to so much trouble to help. He grew up with a nasty, crooked cop for a father, so trusting Scott is hard. Finding time for a social life with a very young son and crazy work hours is not easy for Scott, but there is something about James that makes him want to try. Unfortunately those are already two strikes against him in James’s eyes, and he is not sure if James will even give him a third.

The sparks are definitely there for James and Scott, although trying to see past the pain and hurt caused by his father, James is skeptical. Scott cannot force James to give him a chance, which is why I love how he shows James what a good guy he is, instead of just pressuring him. Both of these men have reason to be cautious; which is what I feel makes their story even better. Lust at first sight is great, but a real understanding between Scott and James is even sexier.
