Decades go by where Harry Bronson has not given one thought to his sister, despite spending fourteen years of his life with her. Now she is all he can think about, and the guilt is killing him.

Keeping his old partner out of trouble is becoming a full-time job for Mike Hoover. He worries that the longer this hunt goes on, the more reckless Bronson is getting.

Having Lorraine die in his arms is the hardest thing Bronson has ever experienced; regardless of how many years they have been estranged. With her last words echoing repeatedly in his head, he vows to catch her killer. Following one lead after another, Bronson runs the gamut of Pittsburgh’s criminal underbelly. He only hopes he can stay one step ahead long enough to get answers.

Art thieves, a psychotic killer, pimps, and politics are a lot to squeeze into one storyline. In fact, it all feels to me like an entire season of a seventies cop show crammed together to make up one episode. Bronson, a retired detective from Dallas, along with his ex-partner Mike, have a fairly good skill set. It is Bronson’s bullheadedness, or maybe the gallons of sugared-up coffee he drinks, that seems to get him into trouble more than anything.
