Skylar Pascal needs a place to heal and most importantly a job to give her purpose. When she gets hired on at the Elk Horn Ranch, she feels an immediate sense of safety. Perhaps here she will be able to lay her military past to rest and learn to manage her PTSD symptoms.

Grayson McCoy knows demons when he sees them, and the new ranch nurse is definitely packing some heavy emotional baggage. As a former Navy SEAL he has his own battle with PTSD. Still, there is something about Sky that appeals to the protective side of Gray, and makes him long to soothe her.

With Gray’s help, Sky begins to learn more about herself and her capability to put the past in the past and move on. Not only is Gray a wonderful friend, he appeals to the woman in Sky that she thought was long dead. Sky is hopeful for the future, until the actions of a local criminal threaten all of the progress Sky and Gray have made.

The intense and realistic portrayal of Sky and Gray’s struggle with PTSD is told with Ms. McKenna’s trademark compassion and understanding. Readers will fall in love with the rugged SEAL as he coaxes Sky to open up and trust him. There are some intense scenes, but this is a great addition to a romance lover’s reading list.
